HERAN Investor Day 2025: How Heran fuels bold innovators in Healthcare and Life Sciences

October 28, 2025 - Waasmunster (BE)

On October 9th 2025, we welcomed over 100 investors, founders and stakeholders to our annual Investor Day at De Koolputten in Waasmunster. The event reflected our investment philosophy: HERAN fuels bold innovators whose technologies are transforming healthcare and life sciences.

Katleen Vandersmissen (Managing Partner) and Raf Roelands (Partner) shared key portfolio updates and a looked ahead to the strategy of our second fund: HERAN HealthTech Fund II, with first investments soon to be announced. With healthcare innovation moving at unprecedented speed, we continue to focus on founders and teams whose solutions improve the quality, accessibility, and efficiency of care.

From AI to impact: Nuclivision and Gynaia

Our two latest investments - Nuclivision and Gynaia bridged our philosophy into practice. Both companies operate in the rapidly evolving domain of artificial intelligence in healthcare, yet both share a deep human focus.

  • Nuclivision develops AI systems that assist clinicians in interpreting complex medical images, enabling faster and more accurate diagnostics.
  • Gynaia applies AI to gynecology and women’s health, supporting doctors in providing more personalized and efficient care.

Both companies showed the real-world impact of their solutions: improving accuracy, saving time, and ultimately benefiting patients.

Balancing the promise and the responsibility of AI

Mieke De Ketelaere

Mieke De Ketelaere (Adjunct Professor Vlerick Business School) delivered a compelling keynote on the responsible use of AI in healthcare. She explored the risks and benefits of AI, emphasizing the importance of sustainability elements, human critical thinking, and the opportunity of AI to enhance clinical judgement. Her keynote reinforced that the future of healthcare innovation lies in the collaboration between intelligent systems and human experts.

HOPE

Representatives from HOPE, Aart Van Oekelen and Michaël Van der Voort, took the stage to share their mission of giving back through initiatives such as Antwerp Business Boxing, supporting cancer research and bringing joy to hospitalized children.

Conversations that shape the future

As the formal program concluded, our guests enjoyed a walking dinner prepared by De Koolputten’s culinary team. It was a moment to reconnect with familiar faces and welcome new ones, creating space for thoughtful conversations and spontaneous exchanges.

Looking ahead

The discussions, presentations and connections of the evening made one thing clear: the future of healthcare will be defined by thoughtfully integrating AI into human decision-making and care delivery.

Thank you to everyone who joined our Investor Day, your support means a great deal to us. We hope to see you all next year!
